supporting options for local google

Google My Business Support Options: Online, Phone, or Twitter?

Once upon a time, you could easily find a form in the GMB dashboard, fill it out, and call google my business.

Google has been phasing out this option throughout, making it harder and harder to find.

We all know how critical your listings are for local search.

If you have issues with your listing, you know that what should be an uncomplicated process can end up being incredibly irritating and a huge time waste. GMB Verification issue?

We have all been there.

How do you talk to a live person at Google?

Get Google to Call You
  1. Sign into your Business account.
  2. Go to the help page on the dashboard
  3. Click NEED MORE HELP top right corner.
  4. Choose what topic you need support on.
  5. Provide additional information regarding your issue or what you need to update.
  6. Select ‘Request a phone call.’
  7. Provide the requested details about your company including your address and email.

Do not Forget Google My Business Help Section

From my experience, the Help/Support page is very extensive. You should start there. But there are just times you need to chat with a real live person.

If you find your specific problem that just doesn’t seem to have a solution there, you can contact support via Phone or Twitter directly.

Google My Business Phone Support Help Line

If you have patience,  call the support Number at 1-844-491-9665  When you call, you’ll hear an automated voice welcoming you to the GMB Set up line.

There are no complicated menus asking you to say or input your answer.  There is just an intro and then directly to the wait line you go.

Some of the support issues the service number can assist with includes:

  • Assistance with setting up a new local account
  • Verify your listing. Maybe you never received a postcard or have other verification issues.
  • Receive help for other issues you can’t find the answers in the help pages or in the dashboard.
  • Update your information.
  • Listing ownership transfers or other issues

Like any customer service number, the GMB Phone Support line will have you waiting on hold for a little while for the next representative.  This time will of course vary depending on how busy they are.

I’ve read comments in forums that said when a person did call; they waited 30-40 minutes.  Recently, when I called support for a client of mine, I was only on hold for about 30 seconds after the automated introductory.

The representative I spoke to was very professional and helpful.  At the end of the call, I took a very short feedback survey about the call and local search.  Overall, a reasonably straightforward phone call to get the assistance you need.

Twitter Support is Now Available

click message on Twitter

To help assist people who don’t have time to sit in a waiting line on the phone, you can now go to Twitter.  The Google My Business Twitter account has been set up to provide information and updates for all things GMB.

In addition to updates and other information, the account provides access to the service team primarily set up to help customers.

To get started, follow @GoogleMyBiz

Once you’re following them,  go to their page, you can “Tweet to” or “Message” any question you may have.

You can also put a question in one of your Tweets with @GoogleMyBiz to mark it to their attention.

The team works M-F 8am-5pm EST.  If you’d like to know more about who will be helping you, there is even a page introducing you to the  Twitter team.

How long it takes them to get back depends on the issues of those ahead of you. From my experience, be patient and expect 24-48 hours for a reply.

Beware of Fraudulent Phone Calls Claiming to be Google

Occasionally GMB Phone Support does call to verify your business or confirm company details for Maps. This is mainly used as a spam prevention tool.

Unfortunately, not all phone calls claiming to be from them are.  We all know there are people out there who try to defraud unsuspecting victims any way they can, and this a prevalent tactic employed by susceptible business owners.
